All very good, in particular in Kathmandu we were garlanded which was a nice touch.

City Tours & Guide Services

Delhi-good Jaipur-very good Agra-good Varanasi-guide good but Ganges overflowing and no alternative tour planned. Kathmandu-very good guide and well organised tour.

Car / Coach

India-Shashi-very good, car always clean, very good, safe driver, always on time, very reliable, pleasant company to be with. Varanasi-car clean, driver on time and pleasant. Kathmandu-untidy car, very old, car broke down many times no English and we had 2×5 hr transfers with him, also didn’t feel safe with his driving. We think he may have taken us to the wrong resort in Chitwan. Flights + train journey good apart from KTM-DEL which was cancelled so we had to take alternative flight and pay the difference.

Hotels

City Park, Delhi – Good hotel, friendly staff, bit of a smell in corridor (may be carpets).

Lake Pichola, Udaipur – Well located, nice view.

Oodhi Fort, Kumbhagarh – Good view, very isolated so restricted to hotel, needed mosquito net because of location

Pushkar Palace, Pushkar – Miserable staff, (no please or thank you) restaurant was in spare room – breakfast no choice or menu just toast and fruit put in front of you.

Jaipur Palace, Jaipur – Good hotel, building work going on so no bar, coffee shop, business centre, beauty salon.

Building work started early in the morning.

Laxmi Villas, Bharatpur – Nice hotel

Agra Ashok, Agra – Good hotel and location.

Taj Usha Kiran, Gwalior – Excellent hotel, upgraded to a suite which was very nice, bar closed for private party.

Amar Mahal, Orchha – Nice room, unhappy staff, bad service and food in restaurant.

Clarks, Khajuraho – Good hotel, building work again! Nice food and friendly staff.

Clarks, Varanasi – Building work again! Restaurant – Several things on menu not available, miserable staff, food was poor apart from breakfast.

Himalaya, Khatmandu – Nice hotel, friendly staff, very clean and good facilities.

Island Jungle Resort, Chitwan – Difficult to find, staff weren’t expecting us so not sure if it was right place? Accommodation as expected from Jungle Resort, food ok but no choice, wildlife not very varied but elephant ride and bathing made up for this. Staff very friendly. West End, Delhi – Good airport hotel, clean and tidy.

Any other Suggestions, Comments

Overall an enjoyable tour – thank you. Just a few hotels with unhappy staff who seemed to be inconvenienced by us. We are on holiday and like to see happy faces. Shashi deserves a special mention as he was always happy!
